John Campbell Brown

Professor John Campbell Brown FRSE (born 4 February 1947) currently holds the following positions:
- Astronomer Royal for Scotland (since 1995)
- Honorary Professor of Astronomy, University of Edinburgh
- Regius Professor of Astronomy, University of Glasgow
He is involved in the teaching programme at the University of Glasgow, teaching first year astronomy stellar physics amongst other subjects. According to his University of Glasgow webpage his position as Astronomer Royal for Scotland involves giving talks and performances to the public, the objective seeming to be to generate wider interest in the subject. More details at [1] He was elected a fellow of the Royal Society of Edinburgh in 1984.[1]
