John Buchanan was a Republican candidate in the 2004 Presidential race. He is a freelance journalist who lives in rural Georgia.[1]

He has written a screenplay called Operation Clear-Vision on the subject of the Bush family, pharmaceutical companies and biological weapons research.[1] It was during the research for this project that he discovered documents related to Prescott Bush's business dealings with Nazi industrialist Fritz Thyssen.[2][3] He has also co-written (with Stacy Michael) articles on the matter for the New Hampshire Gazette.[4] After the publication of the articles there were a series of incidents involving various levels of law enforcement (from the local Miami police to the Secret Service); with claims that Buchanan was plotting to assassinate President George W. Bush. Buchanan was also arrested and charged with a 14 count felony indictment of Aggravated Stalking. Buchanan was jailed, but on August 11th, 2004 he went to trial and was acquitted on the charges in a matter of 30 minutes. With the state never presenting its witness, the case against him was dismissed.[5]

During his presidential campaign, he often referred to himself as "the 9/11 Truth Candidate".[6] He also opposed the 2003 Iraq war.

Buchanan received 1.23% of the vote in the New Hampshire primary.[7]
