John Brunious

John Brunious Jr. (born October 12, 1940 - died February 12, 2008) was a jazz trumpeter and the bandleader for the Preservation Hall Jazz Band.
John Brunious was the son of John Brunious Sr, a jazz musician in his own right and also his teacher. Brunious's initial inspirations were Dizzy Gillespie and Maynard Ferguson, but he had a continued interest in older styles of jazz. He has been a member of the Preservation Hall Jazz Band since the 1980s.[1]
The events of Hurricane Katrina caused him to lose many of his possessions. He also spent several days at a convention center before temporarily relocating to Arkansas to be treated for dehydration. He had since recovered.[2]
John Brunious died of a heart attack on February 12, 2008 in Orlando,Florida where he resided with his wife and step-daughter.[3] The family had moved to Orlando after losing their home and possessions in the flood in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.
