John Brenner (born January 4, 1961) is a retired shot putter from the United States. While a student at UCLA, Brenner was the 1984 NCAA champion in both the shot put and the discus throw. His collegiate record of 71-11, established in 1984, stood for eleven years.
Brenner is a two-time US national champion (1986 and 1987) in the shot put event. He captured the bronze medal at the 1987 World Championships in Rome. He finished 4th at the 1984 US Olympic Trials, and missed the 1988 Summer Olympics due to an injury.
