John Barnes (broadcaster)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

John Barnes is a sports journalist for BBC Scotland, regularly reporting for TV's Sportscene and BBC Radio Scotland's Sportsound.

Barnes was famously attacked by Jim McLean, then the chairman of Dundee United, during a post-match interview [1] at Tannadice. Although not directly broadcast on Sportscene, noises coming from behind the camera were heard during the live Saturday afternoon edition of the programme. McLean later admitted he had struck Barnes and apologised, but had to resign as chairman.
