John A. Rich

Dr. John Armand Rich is Professor and chair of the Department of Health Management and Policy at Drexel University in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and was a 2006 MacArthur Fellow,
Rich received a B.A. in 1980 from Dartmouth College his M.D. in 1984 from Duke University Medical School, and an M.P.H. in 1990 from the Harvard School of Public Health. Before coming to Drexel, he was associate professor of medicine and of public health at Boston University
He was the Boston Public Health Commission's medical director from 1998 to 2005. In 1993, he established the Young Men’s Health Clinic in Boston aimed at young men who were victims of urban violence. His work there has been published in journal papers and elsewhere, for example in [1], [2]. His book, In the Wrong Place at the Wrong Time (is forthcoming in 2008 from Johns Hopkins University Press.
In 2007, he received an honorary Doctor of Science from Dartmouth College. He has been featured in the 2001 documentary film “The Angry Heart”, produced by Jay Fedigan.
