John 'Robbo' Robertson

John was elected unopposed as Secretary in July 2001 following the resignation of Michael Costa who resigned to take a seat in the NSW Parliament and has subsequently become NSW Minister for Police.
John started his working life as an Electrician in the building and construction industry in 1979. In 1987 he was appointed as an Organiser with the Electrical Trades Union (ETU). After several years organising in the Construction Industry with the ETU John took up the position of Industrial Officer with the Labor Council in 1991.
In February 1998 John was elected as an Executive Officer (Deputy Assistant Secretary) of the Labor Council and shortly afterwards in June 1998 he was elected Assistant Secretary, a position he held until his election as Secretary.
In addition to John's responsibilities of overseeing the operations of the Labor Council he is a Director of WorkCover Authority of NSW, Energy Australia, Labor Campaign Pty. Ltd., Labor Media Pty. Ltd., Chifley Financial Services, Member of the ACTU Executive and Chair of the NSW Australian Labor Party Industrial Relations Policy Committee.
