Johannes von Lahnstein is a fictional character on the German soap opera Verbotene Liebe (Forbidden Love). The character was portrayed by actor Thomas Gumpert from September 23, 2003 to January 9, 2008.

He is the father of Ansgar (Wolfram Grandezka), Carla (Claudia Hiersche), Sarah Hofmann (Sina-Valeska Jung) and Nico (Verena Zimmermann). He is also the Owner of the Lahnstein Holding. He was married to Francesca von Lahnstein and Cécile de Maron (Yvonne Burbach) and had an affair with Elke Käppler (Elke Bludau) and Vera Brandner. After his marriage with Cécile, he dating Charlie Schneider (Gabriele Metzger) and is currently married to Elisabeth Brandner (Martina Servatius), who was the former wife of Johannes ex-best-friend Arno Brandner (Konrad Krauss). He lives on Schloss Königsbrunn and is one of the richest men in Germany.

In 2007, after he gave up his friendship to Arno because of Elisabeth (they had an affair, before Elisabeth left Arno), he met his old rival Adrian Degenhardt (Klaus Zmorek) who wants to destroy the Lahnstein family.

In January 2008, when Johannes has a business trip his plane get lost from the radar.

In 2003, when Johannes arrived in Düsseldorf he fell in love with the beautiful Cécile de Maron. Both got married a few months later. After the wedding, Johannes' son Leonard came back from the USA and fell also in love with Cècile. She had feelings for him too and both began an affair with each other. A drama began and when Johannes finally found out the truth, he promised his son that he will never forgive him. But Cécile died in early 2006 by a tragic car-accident and Johannes forgave his son on Cécile's grave. She was 36 years old. 2 years later, 11 January 2008, Johannes von Lahnstein died on an airplane crash into the ocean. He was 60 years old.
