Johann Gottlieb (February 15, 1815March 4, 1875) was an Austrian chemist who first synthesized Propionic acid. Gottlieb was born in Brno, Bohemia in Austria (now Czech Republic). Since 1846 he was a professor at the University of Graz. He died on natural causes in Graz, Austria.
