Johann Böhm

Johann Böhm (January 20, 1895, České Budějovice - November 27, 1952, Prague) was a German Bohemian chemist.
Böhm studied at German polytechnic in Prague, worked with Fritz Haber in Berlin, then at university in Freiberg. From 1934 he was professor of physical chemistry at the polytechnic in Prague. After the war he kept citizenship of Czechoslovakia (because he was active in the anti-Nazi movement) and worked in research institute in Rybitví (Výzkumný ústav organických syntéz). He specialised on photochemistry and radiography.
Aluminium-containing mineral boehmite (or böhmite) is named after him.
