[edit] Description

John Quincy Adams.

If the date on this image and Image:Andrew Jackson-1844-2.jpg are correct, this cannot be the first-ever photograph (daguerreotype) of an American President.

It is not the first-ever photograph of an American President. John Quincy Adams was the 6th President and hence the earliest President to be photographed, although his photograph was taken after that of a later President (Andrew Jackson). 66.176.34.102

Taken after his presidency in 1848

[edit] Source

19th century photograph. Better information needed.

[edit] Licensing

Public domain This image (or other media file) is in the public domain because its copyright has expired.

This applies to the United States, Canada, the European Union and those countries with a copyright term of life of the author plus 70 years.

Note that a few countries have copyright terms longer than 70 years: Mexico has 100 years, Colombia has 80 years, and Guatemala and Samoa have 75 years. This image may not be in the public domain in these countries, which moreover do not implement the rule of the shorter term. Côte d'Ivoire has a general copyright term of 99 years and Honduras has 75 years, but they do implement that rule of the shorter term.

Read it again. The description of this photo says that JQA is the first president of whom a photograph exists. This refers not to the age of the photograph, but rather the chronology of the President. JQA was President before Andrew. -- the preceding unsigned comment was added by 24.177.178.186 (talk • contribs)

"The first ever photograph of an American President" is obviously not the same thing as the earliest American President of whom there is a photograph. The earlier description claimed it to be the first, which appears to be false. -- Infrogmation 04:26, 24 March 2008 (UTC)
