[edit] Club Career
Joffre Guerron was born in a small Ecuadorian village called, Valle del Chota, where other important figures of Ecuadorian football have emerged, players such as Edison Mendez, Agustin Delgado, Ulises de la Cruz and others.
He made his debut in the top Ecuadorian division with SD Aucas at the very young age of 16. He was then transferred to Argentine giants Boca Juniors where he played in the lower divisions of the team; however he never got a chance to debut with the senior team. In 2006 he returned back to Ecuador, this time to LDU Quito, at the request of the then manager, Juan Carlos Oblitas.
In 2007, Guerron began to hold a starting 11 position, with the new manager Edgardo Bauza. He impressed and dazzled many with his speed and talent as well as his pace in the Copa Libertadores 2008 with LDU Quito, scoring against Libertad of Paraguay with a individual play, and also against Estudiantes de la Plata. He was a nightmare to the defense of his opponents and has been a key player to LDU in their success in the Copa Libertadores.
[edit] Transfer Rumors
In April 2008, there was news that Portuguese power FC Porto was highly interested in buying his services.[1][2] According to international press, however, Boca Juniors from Argentina is even more so interested in his return to their club, this time for a regular starting position. The trasfer fee is estimated to be around (USD)$2,000,000 dollar offer for 50% of the players rights. However LDU's manager, Bauza, has manifested that the player will not be sold until the end of the Copa Libertadores. Club America in Mexico and Serie A's Udinese have also expressed their interest in him.[3]
Serious interest rose up from La Liga side Getafe as they reportedly were mounting a bid for $4 million euros.[4] The media have exposed Getafe's interest and Guerron is a player they are considering.
On June 6, 2008 it was confirmed that Joffre would join Getafe CF for 4 years at a price of $4 Million euros .
