User talk:JOE HUEGLIN

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Why did you add this to the Village Pump? Wikipedia is not a soapbox. --Ardonik.talk() 05:35, Sep 17, 2004 (UTC)

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia.

You might find these pages useful:

You can always experiment in the sandbox.

If you like, you can introduce yourself at the new user log, or write something about yourself on your user page.

One more thing: if you leave a note on any kind of discussion page it's always helpful to sign your post with four tildes (~~~~), which is automatically converted to your username and the date and time. Don't do this in articles themselves though as they are not 'owned' by any particular contributor.

If you have any questions, see help, leave a question at the help desk, or feel free to drop me a line on my talk page.

Thanks again and happy editing!

That name looks familiar. You're not this Joe, are you?? --Ardonik.talk() 15:23, Sep 17, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] You ARE that Joe!

I received your e-mail and send a reply. Again, welcome! You're the first bona-fide Canadian politician I've ever conversed with.  :-)

As you know, Wikipedia:Welcome, newcomers! is our official welcome mat. We do have a Wikipedia:Auto-biography semi-policy that is meant to discourage people from writing about themselves, but my impression is that it's generally ignored when the person editing an article also happens to be its subject — as was the case for User:Hayford Peirce (the guy) and Hayford Peirce (the article about the guy.) Personally, I would have no problems with your contributions to the Joe Hueglin article; after all, by definition, you're the person most qualified to write it. This IS a wiki, though, so expect that your contribution will be edited mercilessly by other people as the article improves.

When we want to leave messages for other users or discuss an article, we editing the appropriate talk pages. You can write a message back to me, for instance, by clicking on User talk:Ardonik or entering "User talk:Ardonik" in the search box.

Do you happen to have a photo of yourself that we can add to the Joe Hueglin article? If you're willing to release the pphoto into the public domain or under a license that's compatible with the GFDL, you can click the "upload file" link to your left and upload it right away. Including images in articles couldn't be easier:

Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg or Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg

Also see the Wikipedia:Picture tutorial.

The best place to go if you want an answer to any question you have is the Wikipedia:Village pump. Any question you post there will probably receive half a dozen responses.

There's more. Much more. But it's easy, believe me! --Ardonik.talk()* 16:51, Sep 22, 2004 (UTC)

[edit] Image:Dopefish-windope.png

Hello, JOE HUEGLIN. An automated process has found and removed an image or media file tagged as nonfree media, and thus is being used under fair use that was in your userspace. The image (Image:Dopefish-windope.png) was found at the following location: User talk:JOE HUEGLIN. This image or media was attempted to be removed per criterion number 9 of our non-free content policy. The image or media was replaced with Image:NonFreeImageRemoved.svg , so your formatting of your userpage should be fine. Please find a free image or media to replace it with, and or remove the image from your userspace. User:Gnome (Bot)-talk 01:05, 16 May 2007 (UTC)
