Legacy Microsoft Windows
Could you please cite a source for your Legacy Microsoft Windows? I've seen similar phrases used to refer to pretty much every version of Windows aside from XP or Server 2003. AlistairMcMillan 15:47, 25 Nov 2004 (UTC)

- I'm begging you. Please stop adding redirects. They should only be added when absolutely necessarily. And you NEVER want to have redirects that point to redirects unless there is a really good reason. Iso639 -> ISO639 -> ISO 639 is NOT a really good idea. Everything should point at ISO 639. EVERYTHING!!! AlistairMcMillan 15:38, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)
Comments regarding RFC 3066

And yes, it is normal to reply to comments on the other user's talk page, because it then sends that user a flag that they have new messages. Stellertony the Bookcrosser 22:25, Nov 26, 2004 (UTC)

Hi Joe, just wondering why this change [1] to an article that doesn't exist? -- Chuq 06:55, 30 Nov 2004 (UTC)
Redirects?
Hi, what's up with all the redirects to Dark-Sky Movement? Are you intending to write that article? If so, you should do so fairly soon (even a stub will do), or else the redirects will go away. Wikipedia policy is to get rid of redirects to non-existent pages, and someone listed them on WP:RfD. If you do create the target, you don't have to do anything on WP:RfD (we'll eventually notice the target is there. Thanks! Noel (talk) 12:39, 12 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- Sorry, I don't understand the point of your note on my Talk: page? Also, while I'm here, there are a bunch more of your redirects that also got listed (after I left the message above); the targets are legacy Microsoft Windows and lighting regulation. Again, these will go away unless you create the articles. Noel (talk) 14:25, 13 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Redirects again
Hi, there is no hard and fast rule, but in general one shouldn't go too far one way or the other. Too many is a problem, and too few is a problem.
E.g. if look at the original list of 7 of your redirects added to WP:RfD this time around, you will notice that the community consensus was to keep almost all of them (albeit with a certain amount of re-targetting). So this time you got it basically right.
In the past some of your calls have been a little too far out. E.g. all those redirects to Dark-sky movement, a lot of those I think are useless - they use combinations of spacing and capitalization which are very unlikely.
Sorry I can't be more definitive, but I think these two cases should give you a good sense of what a good level is. Noel (talk) 01:30, 23 Dec 2004 (UTC)
- A reason for avoiding redirects is that it dilutes Google Page Ranks. We want the pages here to rank as high as possible, but if there are four or five different possible links all pointing to the same page, then the possible page rank is distributed among the actual article and the redirects. DEC Windows
Hi, you need to check out the comments at Wikipedia:Redirects_for_deletion#December_20 and provide a response, otherwise these will probably go away (they rest all survived). Noel (talk) 12:52, 29 Dec 2004 (UTC)
