Joe McCabe [[1]]
Joe McCabe played tenor sax in a number of bands in Illinois in the late 60's. Among them was Uncle Otto's General Store led by Bill Fiorio (aka Duke Tumatoe) and REO Speedwagon formed by Neal Doughty and Al Gratzer. These bands were unique in their ability to routinely draw a strong following in the Champagne Ill. region. Later in Carbondale Ill. Joe played in the soul group know as the Tommy People as well as leading the weekly house band for the SIU TV talk show that was broadcast in the southern Illinois region.
Joe took a break (a long one) from regular gigs after he moved back to New York to start a family and a career in the aerospace industry. Joe now resides in Seoul, Korea and is the regional president of a major UK/US aerospace corporation. Interestingly, music is back in Joe's life as Seoul Korea is experiencing a bebop renaissance with numerous casual jazz clubs and very capable Korean musicians who welcome guest players.
