[edit] Memorial page
Jeff dean, the article you created on Joe Seliga is not in the appropriate format for wikipedia, and it does not assert the importance of the subject. I reformatted the article appropriately, which you have reverted. Might I refer you to the article Wikipedia:What wikipedia is not#Wikipedia is not an indiscriminate collection of information, which states that wikipedia is not the appropriate place for personal memorials. Not being a canoeing person, I can't say with authority that Joe Seliga is not noteworthy, but I can assure you that in its current form, the article is not appropriate for wikipedia. I am returning the article to its wikified state, including a stub request for other users to expand the article and assert the noteworthiness of the subject. If you revert it again, I will nominate the article for the formal deletion process.
I appreciate that you wish to remember Joe Seliga, but Wikipedia is not the appropriate place to do that. --Swpb 17:27, 9 October 2006 (UTC)
Joe Seliga is definitely extremely notable in the canoeing community, possibly the most notable in the past century. I'll work on fixing up the article some more so that it can stay.

[edit] notability established
The biographic book cited is, in my opinion, sufficient to pass WP:BIO; so the subject is notable. Tone rewriting would be appropriate though. I am removing the "importance" tag. Sorted as part of the Notability wikiproject. --B. Wolterding 13:58, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
