Joey "Jett" Hornish, born June 19, 1998 is a Vert Skateboarding phenom from Maryland. Joey skates in local and national competitions and has been invited to skate at the AST Dew Tour in both 2006 and 2007. In 2006 he became the youngest skateboarder in the world to perform a 540 at the Dew tour. In 2007, he performed 4 continuous 540's in one run while at the Dew Tour stop in Washington State. Sometimes quiet and shy, Joey is fearless skating the same high vert ramps as the pros and has skated with the world's best at the Dew Tour, including another Maryland native, Bucky Lasek, and Olympic gold medal winner Shawn White. Joey skates at competitions around the United States and is part of the State of Confusion skate team from Baltimore.
Joey's career began at the age of 6 when his mom brought home a skateboard from a yard sale. "Like a fish to water" his mom says of self taught Joey's skateboarding skills. Joey is a celebrity in his own right in the Maryland area and is quickly gaining national attention.
Joey has also inspired a lesson plan for student writing at the Washington Post. http://www.washpost.com/nielessonplans.nsf/0/9D182435E6894CC6852572820062DB29/$File/People.pdf
