Joel Macdonald (born October 10, 1984) is an Australian rules footballer in the Australian Football League.
Joel Macdonald is a utility defender who can any back positions. Known for his good handball disposals and hard at it" style of play who put his body online. He is also know for his poor kicking disposals but since his knee reconstruction, his kicking has improved.

Joel attended Brisbane Grammar School between 1999 and 2002, achieving many sporting successes during his time at the school. Among such achievements were those within the basketball arena, rugby union and track and field.

He was recruited through the 2002 Rookie Draft (QLD Zone) from Mt Gravatt. He made his debut for the Brisbane Lions in Round 10, 2004 against Melbourne.
