"Smokin" Joe Kilroy is an Australian former rugby league player. He played winger/fullback for the Brisbane Broncos and the Queensland State of Origin team.

Queensland 1988: 2 games – 1t (4pts)
Brisbane Broncos 1988-89: 31 games - 12t (48pts)

Early in his football career Joe Kilroy played for Brisbane's Northern Suburbs club, with a man-of-the-match performance in their win over Souths in the 1980 Brisbane Rugby League grand final. He later played for Brothers, but his big year was 1988, when he played in the first ever Brisbane Broncos match as well as the State of Origin. He was nicknamed 'smokin' Joe, similarly to 'smokin' Joe Frazier, because of his great speed on the football field.

Kilroy was once voted by British rugby league writers as the best fullback in the world, but in 1989 he was sent to jail for three years on similar drug charges to those of his wife, Debbie Kilroy.

Joe Kilroy has since been named in the 4BC Brisbane Rugby League's Team of the 80s.
