Joe Gerhardt

John Joseph Gerhardt (February 14, 1855 - March 11, 1922) was a 19th century Major League Baseball player from Washington, D.C. who played mainly as a second baseman over 15 seasons. Joe, AKA "Move Up Joe", played in 1078 games for 11 different teams in 3 different leagues.[1] He twice was given the chance to manage, and finished with a good record of 72 wins and 61 losses.[2]

Joe died in Middletown, New York at the age of 67, and was buried in Prospect Hill Cemetery in Washington, D.C. [3]
