Joe Dundee (August 16, 1903–March 31, 1982) was an American boxer.
Born Salvatore Lazzara in Sicily, (in America he was called "Samuel") the Lazzara family immigrated to Baltimore, Maryland. Eventually, Salvatore adopted the name "Joe Dundee" and began his career in boxing. His brother Vincenzo, also changed his name to Dundee [Vince] and embarked on a boxing career.
His career began inauspiciously in 1919 with two straight losses in four-round bouts. Nevertheless, Dundee continued boxing and on June 3, 1927 in New York, Dundee defeated the world welterweight champion Pete Latzo on a 15-round decision.
Dundee lost his crown when he was disqualified in two rounds in a bout with Jackie Wilson. He retired from the ring with a record of 89 wins (23 KOs), 26 losses, and 10 draws. He was also credited with scoring a TKO victory over hall of famer Mickey Walker.
