Joe Driscoll

Joe Driscoll (born on April 12th in Syracuse, NY) Is musician/beatboxer famed for his revolutionary take on music and enthusiasm for encorporating different styles and instruments live on stage.

He performs solo, and uses a live recorded loop to fuse hip-hop, reggae, soul, folk and roots rock to create an original and unique sound; an innovator not only for the genre-defying music he creates, but for the groundbreaking way in which he performs it.

Described in the music press as "the modern day one man band",[citation needed] as he is a lone figure on stage and in the studio, yet is able to create a soundscape of a full band utilizing heavy vocal percussion, an array of instruments, a loop pedal, and a lot of imagination.

Hailing from upstate New York, Driscoll was spotted and signed by 3RDEGREE LTD while touring the U.K in 2004. He was then signed up to BUTTERCUTS RECORDS and subsequently went on to record Origin Myths.

The album Origin Myths combines raw live material which is backbone behind Joe Driscoll's international underground following. The drums on the album are beatbox (oral percussion) with layers of guitar, mbira, bass, verse, and rhyme created single handedly by himself.

The accompanying DVD features live performances and interviews, enabling viewers to witness and try to understand his unique techniques.

On a seemingly never ending world tour, the venues and acts Joe has worked with are as diverse as the sounds he creates. From coffee shops to theaters, bars to festivals, crowds are moved by his poignant lyrics, deep rhythms, personal storytelling and funky grooves. Joe Driscoll has performed alongside a multitude of diverse acts, from Dirty Pretty Things to Regina Spektor, Coldcut to The Sugar Hill Gang at hundreds of venues and events in both the US and EUROPE.

Joe has recently been confirmed to appear at the UK's largest and most prestigious festivals; BIG CHILL, BESTIVAL and GLASTONBURY and as the headline LIVE act at LAKE OF STARS FESTIVAL (MALAWI, AFRICA) and at the PLAY Festival in the UK in July 2007.

With the release of "ORIGIN MYTHS" having gained critical acclaim, BBC Radio 1 airplay, sell out shows in New York and London, and receiving an INDY AWARD for BEST SOLO ACT, the appeal of this one man magician/musician is undeniable. The overwhelming response from audiences, critics, and industry insiders makes it clear that the future is now.
