Joe Denton

Joe Denton was a first class cricketer who played 15 matches for Yorkshire County Cricket Club in 1887 and 1888. He reappeared for Yorkshire Second XI in 1892.
He was a right handed batsman who scored 222 runs at just 9.65. The highlight of his playing career was the fine 57 he made against Sussex CCC.
His more famous brother David Denton played 11 Tests for England, 676 times for Yorkshire and was a Wisden Cricketer of the Year in 1906.
Born on February 3, 1865, in Wakefield Joe Denton died, aged 81, on July 17, 1946 in Purston-Jaglin, Yorkshire.
