Joe Dallas is founder of Genesis Counseling which specializes in "sexual addiction recovery and homosexuality.."[1] Dallas leads a monthly five-day men's retreat on sexual purity titled, Every Man's Battle.[2] Joe Dallas focus's on healing "Sexual Addiction, Responding to Pro-gay Theology, Ministering to Parents of Lesbians/Gays, Developing Ministerial Responses to Homosexuals, Apologetics Approaches to the ‘Gay Debate’"[3] He has also written three books and discussed them in the media.[4]
Genesis Counseling maintains that homosexuality can be altered and that they are "Reclaiming Godly Sexuality through the Saving Work of Jesus Christ,The Sancifying Work of the Holy Spirit and the Body Ministry of the Christian Church."[5] Joe Dallas is active in speaking out against what he sees as the gay agenda[6] claiming "I’m not sure we can defeat the pro-gay lobby or prevent their goals from being achieved. But win or lose, I don’t want to stand before God and say I did nothing when I had the opportunity to fight."[7]

[edit] Affiliation with Love Won Out
Love Won Out is a Focus on the Family ex-gay conference. Focus on the Family works with Genesis Counseling: "Reclaiming Godly Sexuality."
Joe Dallas speaks at the Love Won Out conference on the theory of male homosexuality.[8][9] Dallas criticises "pro gay theology" which basis its biblical interpretations on the love and understanding of a God that is tolerant of homosexuality. Dallas instead claims that the practice of homosexuality is an unnatural sinful act according to the Bible.
Dallas has encouraged Exodus International to also stand against the gay agenda which would seek to promote homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle. [10] He served for three years as Chair of the Exodus International Board of Directors, is a member of the American Association of Christian Counselors[11]
[edit] Critics
Critics of Joe Dallas and other ex-gay leaders argue that their theology is hurtful and misrepresents the Bible.
"The statistics that Joe Dallas uses in his book to equate homosexuality with child molesting and the destruction of family values are ludicrous and without validity."[12]
"Like many other homophobic Bible abusers, Joe Dallas uses the tired old argument that Christian homosexuals have revised and distorted the Bible to teach acceptance and respect for homosexuals and homosexuality. The truth is the other way around. Only in recent years has the Bible been translated in clearly homophobic ways that do violence to the original context and meaning of the Hebrew and Greek words. Nowhere does the Bible say that Lesbians and Gays can or should change their sexual orientation. Nowhere does the Bible even discuss, much less condemn, romantic love between people of the same sex."[13]
"Dallas encourages ministries to oppose city anti-discrimination laws, warning — without explaining how — that exgay ministries may face civil lawsuits if such laws are passed."[14]
