Joe Cardamone
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Joseph Cardamone (* 01.01.1979) best known as lead singer and songwriter for Los Angeles rock n' roll band The Icarus Line. Born in 1979 in Los Angeles, Joe was recognized early on as a visual artist.[citation needed] Propelling through visual arts programs and discovering a gift for music at a very early age, he convinced childhood friends to buy musical equipment to form a band. In middle school he befriended life long confidant and bonded a musical partnership with Alvin DeGuzman. The two played various instruments in various punk rock bands. None of the groups reached beyond local aspirations until Joe formed The Icarus Line in 1999. Another noteworthy partnership was formed in 2002 with singer/songwriter Annie Hardy of Giant Drag. Joe and Annie have recorded and performed live together a number of times since. In the ten years as a recording musician he has recorded and produced on over 20 albums.[citation needed] The Icarus Line has toured extensively on four continents. He still resides in Los Angeles.
[edit] Musical style
Joe Cardamone is known for having an uncompromising and sometimes considered genius musical vision. Throughout his career proving that style and substance most co-exist for true art to prevail. His recording and songwriting techniques have been compared to the sounds of Sun Ra, My Bloody Valentine, the Stooges and Funkadelic. In his live performances critics have remarked "a presence that rivals Mick Jagger and Iggy Pop". Consistently unpredictable and always reinventing his sound, and his bands' sound towards a futuristic vision, that well knows its past.
Often rumored to be difficult to work with in music and business, many a band member has left the group salty. All of them seemingly better off for having been involved with Joe Cardamone's music, many of his past musicians have exploited the benefits of their association. Cardamone is also noted for his modesty.[citation needed]
