Congratulations on your election to Esperanza's Advisory Council! Good luck, I'm sure you will be great. -- Natalya 04:15, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Congratulations on your election to ESP Advisory council from me also.--Dakota ~ ° 06:05, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Esperanza Elections

Hey JoanneB!!!! :) (How IRC like for us huh?) I wish to say thanks for your vote at the Esperanza elections.

I've made my way into the Advisory Committee, so if you ever need any help or have any queries about the stuff we do, please do not hesitate to ask. Thanks again, KnowledgeOfSelf 10:05, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

P.S. Congrats go to you as well!

[edit] More Congrats!

Not a problem, you definately deserved it. Thank you for your vote as well! I just hope your victory doesn't prevent you from sending over more of those great dating tips though ;-) Karmafist 21:04, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

Congrats as well! Flcelloguy (A note?) 22:16, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Expansion?

I have heard about expanding the Advisory Council, what do you think about that?; and if so, how many new seats? Thanks for your help! WikieZach| talk 21:26, 1 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: My request on User:Essjay/CVU/IRC/Verifications

Thank you for clearing up that situation. How many edits does one need before he is considered part of the wiki 'club' or to be part of the IRC verification system? Fkmd 23:03, 2 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] NOTICE

Please take notice of Wikipedia:Esperanza/Charter Amendments At approx. 845 EST (one hour) I will place it before the entire Esperanza Community for debate. I am informing all Leadership members. --WikieZach| talk 00:43, 3 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] RE: Just saying "hi"

Hi! Yeah, I'm really miffed. I don't mind so much the limitted time but it means I can't go on Skype or even IRC. You all (you know who I mean) mean a lot to me and not being able to chat is really infuriating. --Celestianpower háblame 13:17, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Congratulations!

A bit late, but still, for being elected to the Esperanza AC. I know you'll do a great job. Cheers! -- Rune Welsh | ταλκ 13:47, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Thanks

Thanks for {{helpingme}}.  :) I hadn't been able to find the page you pointed me to. Very helpful. -Big Smooth 22:17, 6 March 2006 (UTC)

I am so glad that in this encyclopedia that correct information is forbidden. Thank you for misconstruing things that were not only correct but informative to socieety. THanks to you I will never use this horrid site of lies. How wonderful it it that in today's society anything that is slightly percieved as something disliked is immediately disregarded. Again, thnks.........................for nothing.

[edit] dear randomly selected administrator

Hello JB: Imagine my surprise when I signed in a few minutes ago and discovered that I no longer had a user page. It should have been User:Carptrash, but it ain't, despite the blue link. I still seem to have my watchlist, my talk and probably everything else, but no user page. Any ideas? PS I am going to leave this note with 3 admins, just in case #1, and/or #2 are on vacation or involved in something more compelling than my little issue. Carptrash 23:03, 7 March 2006 (UTC)

Thanks so much for your prompt attention. I thought purges went out of style with Stalin, but that just shows how wrong i can be. life is good. Carptrash 01:00, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] notable

Hi Joanne. I'd like to get your opinion. Is this person notable? Thanks. --Fang Aili 21:25, 8 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi Fang Aili, I don't think so. I don't think she meets any of the criteria on WP:BIO. Furthermore, there are very little credible sources that could be used for an article about her (in fact, in line with what's said here, I'm going to delete that last paragraph. I wouldn't speedy it though, but list it on WP:AFD. There are many other persons from the same show present in Wikipedia, I've not looked yet for any other AfD discussions about those - so I don't know if my view differs much from the rest of the Wikipedia Community :-) --JoanneB 06:55, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] User:216.123.202.165

I'll plead ignorant here, as I am a simple scribe, but it would seem that this user is intent on being disrupted, especially given his comments to User:Tachyon01 Cna this block be made permenant? Cheers! --Scaife (Talk) Don't forget Hanlon's Razor 07:12, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

Permanent blocks of IPs are never a good idea, unless they are open proxies. It looks like the same person has been using this IP for a while, but that could change in the near future. However, I agree how disruptive he is and I will not hesitate to make the next block much longer. --JoanneB 07:20, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Back from break

Hi, JoanneB! Thank you for your kind words regarding my wikibreak; they meant a lot to me. :) Staying away from this place proved impossible, so I'm back. Time to rejoin the vandal hunt! ;) Happy belated 1,000,000th article milestone. All the best, Sango123 (e) 20:14, 9 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Hello and apologies...

Hi ... just dropping you a note to let you know I'm still alive, just sick. As you can see from my user contributions page, my activity has trickled down to nothing over the last few days as my cold has gotten worse and worse. I just wanted to let you know I didn't leave Wikipedia or go on a random Wikibreak or anything; I just haven't been able to sit in front of the computer for more than a few minutes at a time without getting dizzy. I hope to get back and finish my Admin Coaching questions sometime in the next 24 hours or so. I'll let you know when I'm done, and I'm sorry for making you wait like this! --Aaron 01:47, 10 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Wikipedia:Requests for comment/Ixfd64

I have filed an RFC concerning an administrator's reversal of several blocks without discussion. This may be of particular interest to you as a couple of the blocks were ones set by you. Regards. — Mar. 12, '06 [15:11] <freakofnurxture|talk>

[edit] Jayjg

Jayjg tried to get this person (Michael Levy, Baron Levy) delisted from the list of British Jews. Why would he insert his personal POV to hide facts on this matter??

I honestly don't know, and I don't really care either. If you have a conflict with another user, the stuff you did is not the acceptable way to handle it. Vandalism is never the solution, so you better find ways to deal with it more effectively. I'm no part in this, after all the vandalising you did I could never deal with this dispute in a neutral way. Don't ever dare accusing me or other editors of censorship if we delete edits like that! --JoanneB 14:26, 18 March 2006 (UTC)

Thank you for reverting the vandalism on my User: page and sprotecting it, and for sprotecting my Talk: page as well; I appreciate it. For more information about this particular editor, please see User:Jayjg/Disruptive Apartheid editor. Jayjg (talk) 04:11, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Squidward blocks

I've noticed that you've temporarily blocked some of the IPs used by the Squidward vandal. However, these IPs are usually open proxies or zombie computers, so it's better to block indefinitely. Otherwise, they'll be used in the next attack. And I'm pretty sure that the Squidward guy has more attacks planned for us. --Ixfd64 21:57, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi, ok! I'll go through them tomorrow and reblock! --JoanneB 22:30, 19 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My unblock

I want to know what was the reason for my block yesterday. Why you didn't warned me first? What is your problem of deleting 1 category? This category if you go to see, it is unnecessary. The category:cypriot people is so good structured that help anyone to find the proper article because of the subcategories. this is not done with the greek cypriot category where there is a mess. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 81.4.163.134 (talkcontribs) Replied on user's talk page. --JoanneB 16:24, 21 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Watchlist clean-up

Hi! We were talking about somehow splitting the watchlist into namespaces, remember? Actually I've managed to solve this problem somehow. I'd appreciate if you could check my monobook, perhaps try it out and tell me what you think before I publish it on WP:JS. It's at the end of the file, marked with "WATCHLIST CLEAN UP" comment - can't miss, really. Regards, Misza13 T C 22:34, 22 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] My RFA

Thank you!

Thank you for supporting / opposing / vandalising my RFA! The result was 71/3/0 and so I am now still a normal user / an administrator / indefinitely banned. Your constructive criticism / support / foulmouthed abuse has given me something to think about / helped me immensely / turned me into a nervous wreck. If there's any way I can help you in return, please ask someone else / suffer and die / drop me a line! --Sam Blanning (formerly Malthusian) (talk) 19:47, 23 March 2006 (UTC)

Dear Mr Blanning, thank you for choosing the ACME Auto-thanker! Simply strike out the phrases that do not apply and tear off this strip at the indicated line to give all your supporters and detractors the personalised response they so richly deserve.
N.B: DO NOT FORGET TO TEAR THIS BIT OFF, MORON!

[edit] Administrator

Hello. I noticed that you are a member of the green E so I thought that it would be good to ask you how you go about to exactly becoming an admin. I already have the tool where it updates and shows me the newest IP Address edits and I am reverting a lot of vandalism now and the problem is that with repeat offenders I can't block them. So I was kinda wondering if you could help me out. -- Damien Vryce 19:03, 24 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Esperanza Newsletter, Issue #1

Reach out is a program aimed at allowing users to bring issues that they have had in Wikipedia to a listening, sympathetic and caring audience:
"No one can know how we feel if we do not say. We cannot expect to get understanding if we do not ask for it. No one will dispute that sometimes life's issues are too much for one person. It is fair to say that sometimes Wikipedia's problems fall under the same heading. This is a place where you can bring the bruises that can sometimes be got on this project for attention."
The Stress alerts program aims at identifying users who are stressed, alerting the community of thier stress and works in tandem with the Stressbusters at trying to identify causes of stress and eliminating them.
Note from the editor
Welcome to this new format of the Esperanza Newsletter, which came about during the last Advisory Council meeting - we hope you like it! The major changes are that each month, right after the Council meeting, this will be sent out and will include two featured programs and a sum up of the meeting. Also, it will be signed by all of the Advisory Council members, not just Celestianpower. Have an Esperanzial end of March, everyone!
  1. Future meetings are to be held monthly, not fortnightly as before.
  2. Bans and Access level changes (apart from autovoice) in the IRC channel are to be reported at the new log.
  3. In the IRC channel, there is going to be only one bot at a time.
  4. The charter requires members to have 150 edits and 2 weeks editing. Why this is the case will be clarified.
  5. A new Code of Conduct will be drafted by JoanneB and proposed to the Esperanza community.
  6. The NPA reform idea is to be dropped officially.
  7. Charter ammendments are to be discussed in future, not voted on.
  8. The Advisory Council is not going to be proposed to be expanded by the Advisory Council themselves, if others want to propose it, they will listen.
Signed...

[edit] The newsletter

It would IMO be much better to put the newsletter on a page and just post a link on people's talk pages rather than putting the whole newsletter on everyone's page. Theresa Knott | Taste the Korn 20:18, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

Hi, we'll consider that, yes. Thanks for responding. Regards, --JoanneB 20:23, 26 March 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Help

Hello. On the Battle of Cannae article, there is some text that will not appear. Alhtough for some reason, when you press edit button, the text does appear, but it will not show on the actual article itself. For instance, the header "Event" will not show on the actual article, but it appears on the editing page. Is there any thing you can do to help me?--Chubdub 13:59, 27 March 2006 (UTC)

There's a problem with the reference tags in that article. They are not all closed. If you look at the specific text that is missing, it appears to be missing from the opening of a reference tag, to the closing of another reference tag much later. Apparently, one of the references is not properly closed with </ref>. You might be able to fix it yourself, now that you know what to look for, if not, let me know, and I'll get into it in more detail. --JoanneB 14:12, 27 March 2006 (UTC)
