- Hi, I think the editor who made the above change and comment is being a bit harsh, probably not British.. and assumed it was just silly vandalism. I think they are part of the Wikipedia Cabal, masters of the hidden secrets that they, and they alone know.. Basically they want to see every last little detail cross-referenced to other sources.
- You could find a reference for this (a web page/book/publication) that says something like People from Stoke-on-Trent are often known as 'potters', and make the change again, providing the reference on the talk page.. or let it pass (which is what I'd probably do).
- Have fun on Wikipedia, don't let them grind you down. EasyTarget 09:23, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- Hi. I don't think the above message is really fair to me, to be honest. Every day, I remove messages that look just like that one. "Smith is a cool dude from New York," "Jimmy has the biggest sexual organ in Taiwan," that sort of thing. I thought this was more of the same... I had no idea that this was an actual nickname for people in that town. I apologize for calling you a vandal, and please feel free to return it... but if you try to phrase it in a way that makes it clear that it's a general nickname for people from there, and not a shout-out to some guy named Potter, then it'll be less likely that some other patroller will revert it again. -FisherQueen (Talk) 10:57, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- I must apologise here, that was waay too strongly worded, I was actually trying to be flippant (I know there's no cabal, just a lot of users who do a good job trying to keep on top of all the vandalism). Citations are useful for the anti-vandal patrols since they help demonstrate the usefulness of an edit. Sorry for any offence. EasyTarget 14:14, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
- So I'm not hurt, EasyTarget doesn't have to feel badly that I missed his joke, Joanna-Jervis is welcome to reference the town nickname in Potter, I learned a little bit about Stoke-on-Trent, and the weather is beautiful. We're all so very happy... :) -FisherQueen (Talk) 16:00, 20 September 2007 (UTC)
