[edit] Boycott Aruba
Boycott Aruba has emerged from claims of institutional racism and violations of victims rights in Aruba.
On January 29, 2004, Dr. Arianna Mathew called for a boycott of the island of Aruba following the incarceration of her husband, Eduardo Mathew. After his release, Mathew alleged institutional racism against black inmates and filed a lawsuit with the European Court of Human Rights. On September 29, 2005, the court ruled in his favor. [1]
A separate campaign to boycott the island emerged after the disappearance of Natalee Holloway. In this case, the Aruban government is alleged to have mishandled the criminal investigation.
