[edit] Coromines or Corominas?
In his DCECH, he signs as Joan Corominas. Joan is clearly Catalan. Why did he use Coromines in Catalan and Corominas in Spanish? --Error 18:48, 10 September 2006 (UTC)
- I'm not sure it makes sense to translate surnames from catalan to spanish. It should be always "Coromines". I guess there could be the possibility that the name had originally been written as "Corominas" in the spanish registry and then (in exile or when democracy was reinstated in Spain) he might have changed it to the form "Coromines" which is more genuinely catalan. But then it would make more sense to say something like "sometimes also spelled as Corominas" than to suggest that surnames should be translated from catalan to spanish.
