According to the Portland Press Herald, in an interview with Joan in advance of the 2008 trials, that race was to be her retirement race. What supports the information here that she retired years earlier?--Doug.^{(talk • contribs)} 19:10, 30 April 2008 (UTC)

The article should be under Joan Benoit Samuelson, her married name, which is what she is always called in the news. She registered for the 2008 Olympic trials under "Joan Samuelson" (or they dropped her middle name from the listings).
