Joanne Pavey

Joanne Pavey (born 20 September 1973 in Honiton) is a track and field athlete, competing internationally for Great Britain. She competes mainly in the 5000 m distance but also on 1500 m and 3000 m distances.In 2006 she won silver in the 5,000 metres in the Commonwealth Games. In 2007 she will be making the switch to running the 10 000m which she will be targeting for the World Championships. It is expected that she will also soon continue with her road running and at some point compete in a marathon. On May 20th 2007, she won the 10km Great Manchester Run. On May 18th 2008, she won the 10km Great Manchester Run.
A three-time national champion in the women's 5.000 metres, she is currently second on the British all time list for 5000 m with a time of 14m 39.96 seconds, behind the record holder Paula Radcliffe. She is also 10th on the British all time list for 1500m, and 4th for the 3000m.
She managed to finish 4th in the 10,000m at the 2007 World Championships in Athletics, behind Tirunesh Dibaba.
