Jo Scard

Jo (Joanne) Elizabeth Scard (born April 8, 1963) is an Australian political consultant.

She attended St George Girls High School in Kogarah and then undertook an Arts and Law double degree at Macquarie University in Sydney.

She began her working career as a speech writer to Federal Labor Senator Bruce Childs and then as an advisor to NSW Labor Government Minister Frank Walker.

She then travelled to Asia, the Middle East and Europe, prior to spending seven years based in London, where she worked for the British Labour Party as a media advisor and political producer for British TV networks Channel Four and ITN.

On returning to Australia, she took up the role of the Seven Network's political producer in the Federal Parliamentary Press Gallery, based in Canberra. Jo then returned to advise the Labor Party as media advisor to Senator Peter Cook and Labor Leader Kim Beazley.

In 1997, Jo took up her current job as Director in the Sydney office of global public affairs and financial communications consultancy Gavin Anderson & Company.

In October 2007, she published her first book with Seven Network Sunrise presenter Melissa Doyle entitled The Working Mother's Survival Guide, published by Allen & Unwin. "The Working Mothers Survival Guide" is a practical book designed to help working mothers and families navigate their way through the sometimes arduous and complicated process of maintaining a career and having a baby.
