João Loureiro

João de Loureiro was the chairman of the Portuguese sports club Boavista FC from Porto between 1997 and 2007. Boavista's football team is one of the most powerful in Portuguese SuperLiga championship, after SL Benfica, FC Porto and Sporting CP.

João Loureiro his a lawyer by training, and was the vocalist and leader of the popular pop-rock band BAN during the 1980s and early 1990s. His father Valentim Loureiro, a military Major, is a famous politician, mayor, businessman and also a former chairman of Boavista FC.

Both João Loureiro and his father are involved in the "Apito Dourado" corruption scandal.And on 9/5/08 he was suspended from footballing affairs for 4 years in match-fixing scandals involving his time as president at Boavista.
