[edit] Welcome

Hello and welcome to Wikipedia!

Just a few quick tips:

  • Our Tutorial explains how to edit; you can experiment in the test area.
  • We have help pages, and if they don't help (can happen :-), post a question at the Help Desk.
  • Remember that we strive to have unbiased articles.
  • Eventually, you might want to read our Manual of Style and Policies and Guidelines.
  • Use the "Preview" button below the edit box! It helps you catch layout, format, and spelling errors before saving.
  • To sign your messages (to talk pages, for instance—like I do below), add four tildes (~~~~) to your posts. The software will replace them by your signature and a time stamp when you save the page.

Anyway, have fun improving this encyclopedia! Lupo 15:23, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Adminship

You do not have to be an admin to edit the article on the University of Houston. Admins are very much like any other editor here, except that they can rollback vandalism quicker and can delete pages. Because deleting pages is sometimes controversial and must be done only after careful deliberation (and most often, community consensus), people are granted adminship only if and when they've been around a couple of months and have earned the community's trust. Posting your request would be seen as inappropriate, and the request would be denied on the grounds that you need to become more familiar with how Wikipedia works. So please, don't do it. Just edit that article, and when you've been around long enough, then try again. All the best, Lupo 15:23, 5 November 2005 (UTC)

Darn. I see you already have posted it. May I suggest you retract it right away? Lupo 15:25, 5 November 2005 (UTC)
