Yup. That's me. I'm brand-new to Wikipedia, but glad to be a member of (IMHO) the best online reference for just about anything.
Who am I?
I'm nearing 30, married to a dental assistant, and work as an inside salesman for a power transmission distributor (i.e., I sell bearings, chain, sprockets, belts, and lots of other weird stuff).
What gives me the right to be on Wikipedia?
Am I college educated? No.
Do I have an official, printed high school diploma? No. I attended a private school for the last three years of high school, and it closed shortly thereafter.
Am I a genius? I wouldn't think so; if I were, I would have invented Wikipedia.
So what am I doing here? I'm literate, moderately well-educated in most of what matters to normal people for normal life. I can speak, read, and write English and Spanish, and spell both more properly than most native speakers. (Oh, and I'm modest, did I mention that?) I can fix cars and build computers, I can write basic HTML, I can Excel fairly competently, I still speak DOS and BASIC (not Visual Basic, real BASIC, though I'm a little rusty), and I love to learn and teach.
When will I write my first Wikipedia article?
That remains to be seen. I've only edited one article so far, for grammar and spelling. Most articles that I would initiate are already here, so time will tell whether I come up with anything original.
