Hello,

I'm fairly new to Wikipedia, but have deep respect for what it is and what it can become. In short, it is amazing. I think this is exactly what my friend Tim, over at the W3C, had hoped for many years ago.

If you are here to see who is this jerk who is making such stupid Wiki edits, then please accept my apologies for being clumsy with protocol and culture at this early stage. I am improving rapidly. Those of you who have been at this for a while have no clue how multi-layered and unique is your world of relationships and procedures.

I've been a sports coach (soccer, alpine skiing, baseball), familiar with the importance of knowing the rules in any game. I'm a lawyer, familiar with the imortance of knowing societies rules and legal procedures. I'm a scientist, familiar with expected requirements of the discipline. BUT, Wikipedia is a whole new world! Somewhat strange, sometimes logical, definitely quirky, populated by an extremely diverse crowd with thousands of individual and group goals.

My intersts thus far:

Roger Revelle -- you can see why at a web page about the Cosmos Myth. [1] Revelle was on my thesis committee and we taught a course together at Scripps for six years.

Global Warming -- I was with Keeling's lab at SIO from 1982-1990. Keeling had only three doctoral students complete with him at Scripps during his career. I was the middle child.

Evolution and energy and self-organization -- Based on ideas and realizations between 1972 and 1980 I drafted a paper in 1981-82, which was finally published in 1989 in the Int'l Journal of Gen'l Systems, that puts forth a Restatement of a fundamental theory of evolution relating to the outward radial growth of energetic systems. In the paper I postulate that an evolutionary growth pressure is a function of energy itself and a direct cause (in fact a "motivational" cause) of self-organizing, energetic systems.

Patents -- I'm currently a patent attorney at Weingarten, Schurgin, Gagnebin & Lebovici, enjoying working with numerous professors at universities in Boston and Cambridge BEFORE they publish!! Truly enjoying the many steep learning curves into numerous realms of physics, chemistry and biology.

Personal page [2] for more than you want to know about me and probably more than I should share!
