I joined Wikipedia in August 2005. I have edited this many pages, though the vast majority of those have been minor edits.
My main interests are cleanup related functions. In particular, I make most of my edits in these areas:
- Resolving broken redirects (see Special:BrokenRedirects).
- Resolving short pages (see Special:Shortpages).
- Correcting links to the wrong article (ex. Apple vs. Apple Computer).
- Removing vandalism.
I also occassionaly work in the following areas:
- Correcting links to disambiguation pages (see WP:DPL & Wikipedia:Disambiguation pages maintenance).
- Merging duplicate articles (see Category:Articles to be merged & Wikipedia:Proposed mergers).
- Wikifying articles (see Category:Articles that need to be wikified & Wikipedia:Dead-end pages).
- Correcting spelling and grammar errors.
[edit] Incorrect Links
Computer related articles tend to have incorrect links. Often, a contributor will wikify the short form of a company or product name and end up with a link to an article that is not the one they intended. The following list contains subjects where I have found frequent incorrect links:
- Apache (links) instead of Apache HTTP Server.
- Apple (links) instead of Apple Computers.
- Eclipse (links) instead of Eclipse (software).
- Java (links) instead of Java (programming language).
- Oracle (links) instead of Oracle database.
- Python (links) instead of Python (programming language).
- Ruby (links) instead of Ruby (programming language).
- Sun (links) instead of Sun Microsystems.
