In addition, Jivaro may refer to the tribes that speak languages in the Jivaroan linguistic family. Numerous indigenous tribes of the Jivaroan linguistic family reside in the Amazon River basin. Many Jivaroan tribes are present in Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia. Examples of Jivaroan tribes include the Shuar, Huambisa, Aguaruna, Achuar, Huaorani, and Shiviar people.
