Czech-born photographer Jiri Rezac inherited a passion for travelling and living in various places from his immigrant parents who left socialist Czechoslovakia in their quest for personal freedom and happiness. By the age of 25, Jiri was on his 6th passport and has seen and worked in more than 30 countries spread across Europe, Asia and America. He developed a passion for photography at the age of 19 after leaving Germany and settling in Bangladesh where he worked as a teacher trainer in a rural education project. During his 20-month long stay, he became interested in documenting the daily lives of ordinary people. Showing a different side of the commonly stereotyped Bangladesh as a flood and hurricane-stricken country devoid of the bright sides of life became a mission for him.

He joined MAP Photo Agency, Dhaka, Bangladesh, as a freelance photographer and carried out his first assignments for a variety of NGO-related publications. Since, Jiri has based himself in London, where he started his professional career by joining Reuters News Pictures in 1998 as a photographer and photo sub editor. Subsequently he has widened his client base to include both editorial and corporate clients shooting an equal balance of portrait and current affairs assignments.

His pictures have appeared in some the world's leading publications such as Geo, Der Spiegel, FOCUS Magazine, Frankfurther Allgemeine, Welt am Sonntag (Germany), The New York Times, Forbes Media (USA), The Guardian, The Independent, The Sunday Telegraph, The Times (UK), FACTS Magazine, Weltwoche (Switzerland), as well as in a variety of corporate magazines and websites. In recent years Jiri has also undertaken extensive assignments on environmental issues for organisations such as Greenpeace and the World Wide Fund for Nature.
