The Jingtai Expressway (projected name) is a projected expressway which will, when completed, connect Beijing with Taipei.
The project has been the source of some controversy, in particular from the Taiwanese authorities (mainly in political contexts). Apart from the political questioning, the other question is how the link under the Taiwan Strait will be completed. A bridge seems less likely than an undersea tunnel, which would have to exceed 100 kilometres in length. The question is further complicated given the climatic and weather conditions across the straits.
Before leaving the Chinese mainland, it would pass through Tianjin, Jinan, Tai'an, Hefei and Fuzhou.
