Jin tachi
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Jin Tachi: A blade with length greater then 84cm falling within the average length of the Nodachi 80 to 90cm. Tachi: A Japanese sword with a more aggressively curved blade, suspended from the Obi (sash) or belt with the edge of the blade facing down.
Common sense would dictate that when a Nodachi is worn in the Tachi style, it becomes Jin Tachi. Though not found in historical Nihonto, this sword would be considerably difficult to wield, and draw from the saya (scabbard), but in theory could be effective for cavalry against infantry. Jin tachi is used frequently to refer to Anime and cheap wall-hanger Tachi, and especially long blades with a reverse-curved hilt, also of which are not seen in historical Nihonto.
