[edit] Archiving talk
Jimmy, you must have forgotten to archive your talk page when you deleted its content. It is conventional to make an archive page. I have done it for you. I hope that is okay. Tom - Talk 06:29, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Wikilove
I am very sorry that User:Duncharris has been cursing you. I would plead with you to be patient and to act in your most noble manner possible. I think you will see that if you can focus for several months on cultivating good, honest relationships here at Wikipedia (even with those who are currently antagonizing you), by this time next year you will find that your editing is much more accepted and appreciated. If possible, I would beg you to even forgive the matter of cursing and to show yourself the nobler for it. Tom - Talk 06:37, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)
Would you mind telling us more about yourself, your affiliations, your partisan biases, and your points of view on your user page? Check around (such as my page) for some examples. Tom - Talk 21:36, Nov 30, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Personal attacks.
Your repeated and irrelevant personal attacks against NguyenHue are unacceptable. Continue and you will be blocked under Wikipedia's policy of no personal attacks. -- Cyrius|✎ 00:13, 5 Dec 2004 (UTC)
All VCML affiliated or sympathetic individuals need to refrain from any advocacy of the interests of the VCML on the Wikipedia until further notice. Is there anything about this request that you aren't sure you understand or agree with? Tom - Talk 16:50, Dec 6, 2004 (UTC)
Jimmy, I sincerely and personally regret that you have suffered personal abuse here. And I regret that VCML advocates are trying to abuse the Wikipedia to prop up their legitimacy. Both unfortunate situations are a discredit to the good name of Wikipedia, which ought to be both a community of goodwill and a reference worthy of respect. I will do all I can to encourage the discontinuation of both practices. I invite you to join me. Tom - Talk 17:55, Dec 7, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] Article Licensing
Hi, I've started a drive to get users to multi-license all of their contributions that they've made to either (1) all U.S. state, county, and city articles or (2) all articles, using the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike (CC-by-sa) v1.0 and v2.0 Licenses or into the public domain if they prefer. The CC-by-sa license is a true free documentation license that is similar to Wikipedia's license, the GFDL, but it allows other projects, such as WikiTravel, to use our articles. Since you are among the top 2000 Wikipedians by edits, I was wondering if you would be willing to multi-license all of your contributions or at minimum those on the geographic articles. Over 90% of people asked have agreed. For More Information:
- Multi-Licensing FAQ - Lots of questions answered
- Multi-Licensing Guide
- Free the Rambot Articles Project
To allow us to track those users who muli-license their contributions, many users copy and paste the "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" template into their user page, but there are other options at Template messages/User namespace. The following examples could also copied and pasted into your user page:
- Option 1
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions, with the exception of my user pages, as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
OR
- Option 2
- I agree to multi-license all my contributions to any U.S. state, county, or city article as described below:
- DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual
Or if you wanted to place your work into the public domain, you could replace "DualLicenseWithCC-BySA-Dual" with "MultiLicensePD". If you only prefer using the GFDL, I would like to know that too. Please let me know what you think at my talk page. It's important to know either way so no one keeps asking. -- Ram-Man (comment| talk)
[edit] Blocked
Blocked for a week for violating arb com decision regarding vanity press edits for VCML. Tom - Talk 16:34, Dec 13, 2004 (UTC)
Could you please e-mail me, Jimmy? Tom - Talk 14:57, Dec 14, 2004 (UTC)
[edit] User Name and account
I think it would be good to open yourself a new account since your account name is confusing with the 57-year-old Van Thach, J.D. of San Jose, California, web design assistant of the Vietnamese Constitutional Monarchist League and Colonel in the Army of the Republic of Vietnam. If you do, be sure to do the following so your good faith will be obvious.
- On your new user page and talk page: "I was editing from September through December 2004 as User:Jimmyvanthach. As part of turning over a new leaf, I opened a new account in December 2004. I am under restriction from the arbitration committee regarding the Nguyen Dynasty. I will be working to reestablish my standing with the community in hopes of an eventual restoration of my full privileges."
- On this user page and talk page: "As part of an effort to turn over a new leaf, I have selected a user name that complies better with Wikipedia guidelines. Please see [insert link to new user page here]"
