Request for Assistance:
Commander Keane's suggestion was not successful.
Repeat: I want to edit the actual TITLE/HEADER of the article, from
"James DeLancey,"
to
"Lt. Gov. James DeLancey."
While this may seem unorthodox, the reason for this change is to avoid ambiguation: there are SEVERAL James DeLancey's, including his first cousin, "Colonel James DeLancey," whose bio I will be posting soon.
How do you edit an article TITLE/HEADER ??
Specifically, I want to change the header for the entry titled,
"James DeLancey," (1703-1760) which should be titled,
"Lt. Gov. James DeLancey."
Thank You,
Jimmy James 902
You can change the opening line to read: "Lt. Gov. James DeLancey (1703 – 1760)..." by simply editing the page (using the "edit this page" button").--Commander Keane 17:46, 7 May 2006 (UTC)
- The title is correct and should not be changed. You could change it by using the "move" button (explained at WP:MOVE), but don't - becasue it is already correct. There is a requested moves (WP:RM) for tricky cases. Do not move James DeLancey. By the way, talk pages flow downwards, most recent comments go at the bottom. --Commander Keane 18:12, 7 May 2006 (UTC)

[edit] Article titles
When dealing with bio articles, the title of the article should be (to borrow your example) - firstname lastname - i.e.
- James DeLancey
Where this causes conflicts add
- James DeLancey (poet)
- James DeLancey (soldier)
- James DeLancey (president)
- James DeLancey (pope)
etc, etc...
I hope that helps. Megapixie 05:55, 22 May 2006 (UTC)
