[edit] Re: Church of Humanity

Please don't think that we've singled you and your church out. Because Wikipedia is an encyclopedia is exactly why we cannot include everything and thusly have notability criteria. For instance, the Encyclopædia Britannica doesn't contain articles about every small village in Yorkshire, so it's obvious that they had to draw a line somewhere indicating that a town was too small to include in the encyclopedia. Because of Wikipedia's online nature, we can include more content, but we still need to draw the line about what is or isn't notable enough, lest the project lose all credibility.

Essentially it boils down to verifiability. If you can produce reliable, third-party references about your church, then there is no contesting its notability. These references may include published books, newspaper articles, the Web sites of notable organizations, etc... As I mentioned when I closed the deletion discussion, if you can provide these sources, then you have the option to address the matter at Deletion review, whereupon the article can be restored.

[edit] Notability of Church of humanity

A tag has been placed on Church of humanity, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}} to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.

For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. WebHamster 00:57, 24 August 2007 (UTC)

Lack of "third party sources" is the biggest problem with this article. Do you need help with these? / edg 05:12, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
Yeah, actually. It's my first attempt at creating an article.. Jiminezwaldorf 16:31, 3 October 2007 (UTC)
