[edit] Your username

Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy; particularly the part about having usernames that are too similar to those of established users. I'm sure you've heard of Wikipedia's founder, Jimmy Wales, who goes by User:Jimbo Wales around here. I'm a little concerned that people might mistake you for him.

I'd appreciate learning your own views; for instance, your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

  • If you can relieve my concern through discussing it here, I can stop worrying about it.
  • If the two of us can't agree here, we can ask for help through Wikipedia's dispute resolution process, such as requesting comments from other Wikipedians. Wikipedia administrators usually abide by agreements reached through this process.
  • You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there.

Thank you. GlassCobra 01:33, 28 November 2007 (UTC)

Hey, I appreciate the note that you put on your user page, but it doesn't really alleviate my concerns about your name. I'm going to go bring up your name at WP:RFCN, okay? Please feel free to add your thoughts there. GlassCobra 00:43, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Your username is allowed

Hello, JimboV1. While there had been some discussion here about whether your username met Wikipedia policy on what usernames editors can use, the result was to allow it, and that discussion has now been closed. If you would like to see what concerns were raised, you can find a link to the discussion in the archive. You do not need to change your username. Thank you.

I hope you will enjoy contributing to Wikipedia despite all this fuss about your username. In my opinion, it should never have been reported in the first place. Nimman 13:30, 30 November 2007 (UTC)

Great to hear that. :) JimboV1 10:41, 1 December 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Proposed deletion of Mabel (band)

A proposed deletion template has been added to the article Mabel (band), suggesting that it be deleted according to the proposed deletion process. All contributions are appreciated, but this article may not satisfy Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and the deletion notice should explain why (see also "What Wikipedia is not" and Wikipedia's deletion policy). You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{dated prod}} notice, but please explain why you disagree with the proposed deletion in your edit summary or on its talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised because even though removing the deletion notice will prevent deletion through the proposed deletion process, the article may still be deleted if it matches any of the speedy deletion criteria or it can be sent to Articles for Deletion, where it may be deleted if consensus to delete is reached. Do you want to opt out of receiving this notice? -- lucasbfr talk 19:51, 2 June 2008 (UTC)
