0) Lists
0.1) I love lists
0.2) All lists should begin with zero, never one. (This also applies to multi level buildings. The ground floor should be level zero, one flight up should be level one, etc.)
1) I grew up in Meridian, Mississippi. At the time, I thought Meridian was a big city (population around 48,000.)
2) I received a BS degree in Industrial Technology from Mississippi State University.
3) I currently live in Cumming, Georgia.
4) I am an embedded software engineer (which has nothing to do with my degree in Industrial Technology).
4.1) I develop embedded code in PowerPC assembly language...
4.2) as well as in C (structured, not object oriented).
4.3) I love making my code as efficient as possible (I've been known to spend 2 days in order to reduce execution time by 10 or 15 ns).
5) Sailing
5.1) I enjoy sailing.
5.2) I learned to sail on my friends 33 ft sloop in San Francisco Bay.
5.3) Since moving to Georgia, I have learned that sailing on a docile lake isn't at all like sailing on SF Bay.
5.4) I hope to own a sail boat one day. I would love to sail the world.
6) Flying
6.1) I enjoy flying.
6.2) I learned to fly at Key Field in Meridian, Mississippi, home of The Flying Keys.
6.3) I learned to fly in my uncle's Luscombe 8F (N9926C).
6.4) As a boy, my uncle would take me to Key Field where, on occasion, I would chat with Fred Key.
6.5) I once flew a Pitts S2B (a 2 place version of the Pitts Special).
6.6) I hope to own a Pitts one day.
7) Reading disability
7.1) I have a reading disability that made school (from the first grade) a horrible experience for me. A good report card was one that did not have any F's.
7.2) I still suffer from this problem, but have learned to deal with it.
7.3) I don't think I am dyslexic, but do not know what else to call my problem.
7.4) After significant self-observation, I have determined that the primary issue that that when I look at the written word, my mind doesn't automatically locate the first word. Instead, I see a word somewhere in the middle. (I must consiously search for the top-left word on a page, which is surprisingly difficult for me.) After reading a word in a sentence, my mind doesn't naturally move to the following word, but tends to see the words above, below, to the left and right simultaniously, making it hard to put the words in the correct order. Does this condition have a name?
8) Family
8.1) I have a beautiful wife named Carolyn.
8.2) One daughter works at Capital Area Food Bank of Texas in Austin, Texas.
8.3) The other daughter is in High School in Chili, New York.
8.4) My step-son lives in Davis, California and attends California State University Sacramento.
8.5) My step-daughter attends Kennesaw State University and works as a physical therapist. (We believe that she may be getting married in the near future.)
8.6) My other step-son attends Kennesaw State University.
8.7) My mother passed away on June, 2006. She was an accomplished musician. I will always miss her.
8.8) My father passed away in July, 2006. He had problems that contributed to his death, but the primary cause was a broken heart. He was awarded a Bronze Star Medal for his service in Germany during World War II. In my opinion, he was the greatest man that ever lived. He showed me how to be a Christian. I will always miss him.
8.9) My Grandfather was a senator in Mississippi for roughly 15 years during the 1950s and 1960s.
9) I have a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Whitman (who's greatest joy is getting a bath).
