JIM VEAL
Marc James Veal (b 1973) Known as Jim Veal, he is an American painter from Irvine California. Jim studied at the Art Institute of Southern California in Laguna Beach. He embraces an eclectic approach to his style, working in four primary forms, plien air, abstract, juxtapose (surreal), and what he is becoming known as the creator of, the Abstreal. He says though all painting involves abstractions, and that painters often stumble upon it, the abstreal is the conscious clear combining of abstract and representational to create a visual harmony. In this approach to painting Jim primarily uses people as his subject.
Though he admits staying in one genre of painting is seen as essential to marketing, he feels that painting what you feel and are moved to express at any given time is a more important issue of honesty and integrity. “It seems the mind wants simple black or white, one name to the credit of an endeavor, right or wrong, and to think in absolutes. I have found life is not this way, so neither is my art. The viewer has proven quite capable as well”. The artist has many collectors and commissioners throughout the world
