[edit] Myself
Hello. I am Jim from Kent in England. My interests are principally historical and I hope to add to Wikipedia's coverage of Ancient Greece, the Wars of the Roses, the Industrial Revolution, the Napoleonic Wars and World War II; as well as military history in general.
I have sporting interests in the early histories of English cricket and English football. Anything that concerns social, cultural and geopolitical history during the last 300 years is likely to catch my attention.
I am a great believer in article quality and a stickler for providing references in the form of inline citations, so I am very strict when it comes to rating articles. But one of the things that has attracted me to Wikipedia is its wise policy about referencing as outlined in WP:CITE and elsewhere.
My userboxes can be seen on this page.
[edit] Sources
WP:CITE contains rules and guidelines about stating sources. Remember especially WP:SAYWHEREYOUGOTIT – quote the source actually seen, not a source it might quote(!).
If an article has no references, and you are unable to find them yourself, you can tag the article with the template {{Unreferenced}}, so long as the article is not nonsensical or a BLP, in which case request admin assistance. If a particular claim in an article lacks citation and is doubtful, consider placing {{fact}} after the sentence or removing it.
[edit] Current activities
I am presently researching Margaret of Anjou and articles that concern Germany from 1918 to 1945. During the research period, starting 2 May 2008, I may not use the site very often.
I have so far made a lot of contributions about early cricket but this is becoming a distraction and I have decided to stop, so that I can concentrate on my historical interests. I would like to thank the cricket project members for their kindness and assistance. I will keep an eye on cricket articles and may return to the project on occasion.
