[edit] Name Rip-off Joints
I've heard Buffett recently sued a number of independent hamburger joints that called themselves "Cheesburgers in Paradise", including one around my way. Does anybody know the details and or results? (my local place is still open, AFAIK). Tuf-Kat 19:58, Oct 15, 2004 (UTC)
- There are a number of Buffett-rip-off joints. I know of Margueritaville in Montego Bay, Jamaica, spelled differently than Buffett's chain.

- Very old comment, but I thought I'd update. The place formerly known as "Cheeseburgers in Paradise" is now something else with a stupid name and the sign says "what's in a name?", so I guess Buffett won (or the owner settled anyway). Tuf-Kat 22:20, 25 May 2006 (UTC)
In Frederick, Maryland there was a resturant that allegedly had to do a name change due to J.B.'s trademark. J.G.

I think Buffett's biography could be expanded. I think his "lost" album ("High Cumberland Jubilee") is somewhat neglected. --Mauvila

I would rather it be done by someone who knows more than I about it. I have lapsed as a member of the Church of Buffett, and I know that there are thousands of Buffett fanatics who know all about the topic. I'm just surprised they have not added more. Mauvila 01:53, 1 Dec 2004 (UTC)

Should all of his albums have information on it? For example, I just finished Boats, Beaches, Bars & Ballads. Write a little summary of the album, major hits, song listing. Should it be for all, or just his best albums? Hurricanehink 12:58, 28 August 2005 (UTC)

Stuff that might need to be added:
- Don't stop the carnival stuff;
- I'm pretty sure he's wrecked two planes;
- His business empire (restaurants, etc.);
- Statistics on his concert popularity;
- Basically, anything that the 60 minutes piece has said.

This statement needs research or amending. "He later married his first wife, Margie Washichek" . . . Jimmy's wife's name is Jane Buffett. I think he married Margie, got divorced, then married Jane, split from her for a while and then got back together. That's why Savannah's middle name is Jane. This info can be found in A Pirate Looks at 50. I just don't have my book at the moment.

I recall a concert in the late '70s at the Greek Theatre in Berkley. Jimmy said he had written "Come Monday" at a motel in San Anselmo, across the bay from Berkley in Marin County. He had just spent some time in L.A. (four lonely days I'm guessing).
Frecklefoot, where's your Come Monday stub? Along those same lines, it appears there's no mention of the 1974 album Living and Dying in Three-Quarter Time, on which Come Monday appeared??? Jellyroll Jake (talk) 04:43, 16 April 2008 (UTC)

UPDATE to Hometown
During a recent concert replay on Sirius Radio, Jimmy stated that he grew up in Fairhope on the Eastern Shore of Mobile Bay. The concert was from 11/05/2001 in Atlanta, and he stated this right before he played "When the Coast is Clear" during the second set. Audio clip verification might possibly be obtained via Radio Margaritaville or Sirius if needed.

I found in Buffett's autobiography, "A Pirate Looks at Fifty," where he states on page 402, "...when I think about home, I think about Pascagoula and the eastern shore of Mobile Bay..." I still would like to know exactly which town he grew up in, whether it's Spanish Fort, Daphne, or Fairhope. I also made some changes to the wording of where he went to high school. According to the McGill-Toolen Wikipedia entry, the McGill Institute was an all-boys school until 1972. Soulpatroller 18:54, 29 May 2006 (UTC)
The article suggests McGill is in Daphne--it's in Mobile. And I don't believe it was "McGill-Toolen" back then. (Also, is it true that he didn't start playing guitar until college?) Mauvila 11:13, 25 May 2006 (UTC)

Recently Buffett's hometown was changed from Mobile to Daphne on this entry. Can anyone verify this change? Homeport, the home where his parents lived the last 30 years of their life, is located in Fairhope, south of Daphne. In some of his books, Buffett has mentioned Spring Hill, but it is never stated he actually grew up there. Does anyone know exactly which side of the bay Buffett grew up on? He's always said Mobile, which is technically on the West side of the bay. Homeport was Daphne, then Fairhope. Now it's no where I guess, unless you count Lulu's.MylesFOmaha 03:56, 27 November 2006 (UTC)
I used to live within walking distance of "Homeport". I would consider it to be in Daphne. Daphne is on the eastern shore of Mobile Bay. McGill is over in Mobile. Part of the confusion may be that if you live in Daphne, you most likely work, shop, etc in Mobile. So, if someone from another part of the country asked where you were from you might say Mobile, since Daphne is pretty much a bedroom community of Mobile. If you've heard Buffett say he was from Mobile instead of Daphne, that might be why. [edit] Crash of his seaplane "Lady of the Waters"
Buffett has a vivid, multi-page description of what could have been a fatal accident in his Grumman Widgeon seaplane. On take-off near Nantucket, the left wing hit a wake, snapped off, and led to a crash. He credits Naval Survival Training with saving his life. It's in his book A Pirate Looks at Fifty, which is considered autobiographical. This could be put in the article. The book mentions a date of August 25th 1994. Bigmac31 21:14, 23 January 2007 (UTC)

If there's a section about a drug search, there should certainly be a section about his plane getting shot at over jamacia. I don't know enough about the incident to write a summary, but it is at least as notable as a drug search

In a recent article, it has been noted that some developers have located the wreckage of the Chiquimula, the craft captained by Buffett's grandfather (and referred to in a number of his songs). Any thoughts on where to place a quick paragraph and link.
