[edit] Dear Jimmie
As much as your namesake was a favorite of my dad's, you have always been a favorite of mine. No one can replicate your beautiful, melodic voice. Ever so unique as Elvis Presley, Patsy Cline, Roy Orbison and so many others who can never be replaced. Somehow,I never knew about the tragedy (beating) you received years ago. I have tried to find out where you were and what you've been doing for several years. No one really knew anything and so I have checked in with the internet, and today, on a lark, I googled you and voila, I found this mediary. Are you doing anything in the business or has your fabulous voice faded a bit? We all know & love "Willie" and he just seems to get better as he gets older as a choice selection of seasoned performers have. I pray that you have been blessed with being able to keep what God gave you. I shall seek out more CD's with your music. Currently,I have one but I do have you on 33-1/3 (LP)as well.
Hope this finds it's way to you! A from the beginning fan, Carol
[edit] assault
There seems to be some confusion in the account of the assault. The article says it took place on the San Diego Freeway, and then mentions both the San Diego and Los Angeles polices departments. At the time of the assault, the San Diego Freeway was not located in San Diego but in Los Angeles, so I would presume that it would have been the LAPD. Unless that allegations are that SDPD went up to LA area to assault Rodgers.Wschart 12:49, 25 September 2006 (UTC)It was the LAPD who assaulted Jimmie for alleged drunk driving they claimed he resisted arrest. The incident took place a mile or two from his home on Knollwood Drive in Granada Hills Calif. A suburb of LA in the San Fernando Valley. I think the exact spot was Rinaldi street a short way from the Rinaldi exit on the San Diego Freeway. Although he was injured he was able to take calls from many friends such as Frankie Avalon and others within a few days. He was also asking for his guitar very soon after the event.
[edit] In hosptial June 2007
The Rockabilly Hall of Fame Yahoo discussion group received a message from Rodgers' family that he was scheduled to undergo surgery on 28 June to replace the steel plate in his head that was installed as a result of the beating in 1967. At the moment there's no print or media source for this, so there's no point adding this information to the article given Wikipedia's rules. No word as of 29 June of the outcome of the surgery. 68.146.8.46 13:22, 29 June 2007 (UTC)
Hi everyone, My name is Michael Rodgers and I am Jimmie Rodgers son. As an update on he outcome of the surgery mentioned above please find the following. Dad's surgery went extremely well. The steel plate was removed after 40 years and the doctor's found that dad's skull had regrown underneath the plate and had completely regenerated and sealed the 29 square inch opening that had been there for so long. They did not need to install the skull implant that they had planned to and the surgery lasted on 45 minutes. Dad is completely healed and living a new life with no more issues from the beating so many years ago.
You can see a new performance on YouTube.com of dad performing last february 2008 a song called "100 miles" Thanks for your prayers and thoughtful emails. All the best, Michael Rodgers —Preceding unsigned comment added by 190.4.45.226 (talk) 04:26, 6 June 2008 (UTC)

Image:JimmieRodgersPOPAlbumcover.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images lacking such an explanation can be deleted one week after being tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion.
